Check the candidate’s age, current CEFR level and any previous entry at the same level.
Complete all three fields below.
Same-level retakes
A candidate may repeat the same level only in the contest immediately following their previous attempt, and only if they did not progress to Stage 2. A candidate who reached Stage 2 at that level cannot enter it again.

What do your entries unlock?
The deadline is final. Each school is responsible for fully checking, completing and confirming its Guaranteed places and any Rescue Cards it chooses to use by the published deadline. The portal is then locked for National Finals planning—no additions or exceptions are possible.

Progression explained
Three pathways to Stage 2
The pathways work alongside one another. Merit is based on national results; school places and Rescue Cards are driven by entries.
Guaranteed school places
Schools receive one guaranteed National Finals place for every complete 10 entries. The school is responsible for confirming its places.
School confirmation requiredRescue Cards
Schools receive one card for every complete 20 entries to support a Discovery candidate who narrowly missed normal qualification. If a school chooses to use a card, it is responsible for confirming it.
Confirm within 4 days of resultsCheck before you confirm—confirmation is final. Each school is responsible for verifying and confirming its own Guaranteed places and any Rescue Cards it chooses to use. Open Candidates per School on the Candidates page to check every selection before the deadline; once the portal locks for National Finals allocation, no changes, additions or exceptions can be recorded or validated.
